On a recent trip to America, I had alot of 'waiting in airport' time. During my hours of waiting I saw plenty mums and dads trying to keep their little ones entertained (and occupied) and out of the the sweet shops- they sure don't need any more sugar in their systems in a confined small space!
For parent, deciding to travel internationally is not something to be taken lightly. There is alot of planning to be taken into consideration. How to deal with the kids on a long-haul flight, jet lag and also a possibly different culture of your holiday destination? Climate, culture, food, smells and a whole host of other things!
But what about the celebrities with little ones (and they all have kids- it's the latest La La Land accessory) who have to travel constantly to different places all over the world where they are shooting movies? For actors and actresses being on location in exotic (and some not so exotic) places is just part of the job!
Nicole Kidman, who has an almost 2 year old daughter, Sunday Rose, with musician husband Keith Urban, had some serious adjustments to make when she became a mum again.
With a motto of “have baby, will travel,” Nicole Kidman says that daughter Sunday Rose, is “okay” now with life on the road — but as she has gotten older, it has become “a different type of traveling.”
“It’s harder now to pack her up,” spills Nicole. “When they’re 6 weeks, they’re easier to travel with. And you’re breastfeeding, so it’s easy to feed.”
But when they get older it isn't quite so simple! What happens when the little ones grow up? It's not so easy to travel with them then. They are in nursery and the constant upheaval is not good for them.
The king and queen of travelling with little ones have to be Brangelina. The golden couple are true citizens of the world. They live in a different country every couple of months. America, France, Namibia, Germany and the list goes on.... and that doesn't count the constant jet setting in between!
With their brood of 6 under 8's, travel must be a nightmare- and the pair claim not to have any nannies helping. Angelina Jolie spilled recently on how her family feels and deals with the constant travelling they do.
Angelina reveals how her children love to travel “We were in France these last few months and after a while they started asking when we could get back on a plane.''
The constant travelling her family does is part of Angelina's plan to educate them about the world and how other people live. “I want them to be able to walk through a marketplace in Addis Ababa and not bat an eye, not think it is dirty and ugly, but that it just represents another part of the world and humanity.”
In a recent interview with
Entertainment Tonight Angie said on globetrotting with six young kids “Our kids are always packing, they like to pack; it’s a game in our house.”
And her tips on dealing with jet lag? “It can get very hard trying to find 20 minutes to close your eyes if you’ve been up since four in the morning,” revealed Angie. But rather than trying to use sleep to make up for all the time differences they experience, she says, “We travel so much, we never have to adjust. We change school time to four in the afternoon in we have to!” So Angelina believes, no sleep for the wicked, keep them up and get to them to adjust fast!
That kind of travelling is not for the faint hearted!
