I have just returned from a fabulous holiday in Israel! What an incredible, exciting experience! I went on a family holiday for my cousins wedding and it was a wonderful special time! Many people do not think of Israel when looking at a holiday destination but its fast becoming a hot spot! For Brits, it’s a very cheap holiday with the Israeli shekel being weak to the British pound (one of the only places!) and only 5 hours away! Israel has everything, history, culture, nightlife, great shopping and amazing beaches and weather!
I stayed mainly in Tel Aviv, a very modern buzzing city! For a holiday it’s a great destination. It’s right by Israel’s international airport Ben Gurion, has amazing hotels located right on Tel Aviv’s gorgeous stretch of beach and plenty to see and do. It is such an easy city to get around, it’s very small and getting around by taxi is the best way to see the city-and the most convenient! It’s also very cheap to get around Tel Aviv by cab and there are taxi’s everywhere and you can always get one, day or night!
Among the group were travelling with were a couple with a young child (who turned one while on holiday!) and were very impressed how easy it was to be in Israel (and Tel Aviv) in particular with a child. They said people were friendly, very accommodating and welcoming to their little one. In restaurants the waiters and staff loved little ones and made a big fuss over them and were only too happy to prepare child-friendly food. Getting around with the stroller was easy as taxi drivers were very helpful in getting the stroller in and out of the taxis.
They also spent plenty time on Tel Aviv’s fantastic beachfront which very family friendly- is and baby friendly too! Most of the beaches have huts for shade, as the weather does get very very hot, so baby can keep cool. The little ones will love frolicking in the warm Mediterranean ocean.
Visiting Israel with children there is lots to do and see! The old city of Jerusalem which is very easy to get too on a local Shirut (mini-bus) is only an hour away, is a magical magical place for adults and little ones alike! The ancient city, with its old stone walls, narrow alleyways, enticing smells and sounds is a real place of adventure and intrigue that will excite the little ones to no end! Experience the Israeli Shuks (market place) which sell anything and everything. It’s crazy and a real colourful experience!
Another fantastic thing to do while in Israel and a must-do experience is visiting the Dead Sea! It’s about 3 hours from Tel Aviv and something to really see. The Dead Sea is so full of salt that you can float which the little ones will love! Lying on your back in the sea is a real treat! They will also love covering themselves from head to toe in the special mineral mud!
All in all a fabulous holiday destination, which I can definitely recommend!
Happy travels...
