About Lantern Cottage Lantern House is a charming spacious period cottage situated in the heart of the lovely Wiltshire village of Sherston. It has recently been fully refurbished and offers extremely comfortable accommodation for up to 5 adults and infant/ babies. It has 4 bedrooms (double, twin, single and a cosy cot bedroom), all with beams and an inglenook fireplace in the lounge. It has a private and secure courtyard garden where you can eat out in finer weather and children can play.
The Cottage Visit Britain the national tourism agency has awarded Lantern House its top 5 star rating (exceptional with a degree of luxury) and assessed Lantern House as providing suitable facilities for walkers, and, families of varying ages and combinations.
All year round weekly breaks and short break holiday rental (2, 3 or 4 nights) bookings are possible subject to availability and include a welcome basket of milk, tea bags, butter, bread, and eggs.
The accommodation is arranged over three floors and has central heating throughout. Ample free public parking spaces are only a few yards away from the front of the cottage. The kitchen and adjoining utility room includes: double oven electric cooker, butler sink, dishwasher, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, CD/ radio, iron and ironing board and clothes horse. The lounge includes: ample comfy seating, digital TV, video, DVD, dining table, reading books, writing bureau, games, and lots of brochures/ books on where to visit.
No smoking is permitted inside and no pets allowed.
Location The cottage is situated right in the heart of the lovely village of Sherston. The village Post Office/ grocery shop (stocks delicious local produce) is adjacent. A large childrens playground and playing field is only a hundred yards away and within sight of the cottage. Also within easy walking distance are an excellent Farm shop (butchers, vegetables and bread) and two excellent pubs should you wish to dine out.
Sherston's location means it is ideally situated for Lacock (beautiful National Trust village where Cranford was filmed), Castle Coombe (another beautiful village), Westonbirt National Arboretum (one of the most spectacular tree gardens in the world which also hosts major music events), and Bath and Bristol are both only 40 minutes away. The beautiful market town of Tetbury, England's premier destination for antique hunters is just 6 miles away. Northwards is the rest of the beautiful Cotswolds countryside, towns (e.g. Cirencester and Cheltenham and villages (e.g. Bibury, Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the Wold, Chipping Camden, Burford, and Broadway).
