Want to go on holiday with your baby, but think it's a too daunting prospect?
Here are five top travel tips from Jetset mums who have been there and know exactly what to do...
Do long flights at night and get your little one dressed in their PJs and stick to their bedtime routine as
much as possible... including brushing teeth, telling a story and snuggling with their favourite toy.
Compartmentalise all your stuff in clear freezer bags. Nappy change kit in one, toys in another,
change of clothes in another, tickets, passports etc in another. Makes finding things very easy.
Always pack extra clothes for your baby and you.
Entertaining your baby/toddler. Get an activity bag packed with things that will keep your
little one busy during your journey. Your can get ideas on
what to pack for a plane journey on the HWB site, but toys that
don't have too many pieces are great eg transformers. A portable DVD play/ ipod work wonders too!
Some mums swear by Phenergan - an over-the-counter medicine officially given for travel sickness, but also
has side effect of sedating children before travel. However, beware; some mothers are totally against it
partly because it has beeen known to work in reverse making some children over active...
Apologise to your neighbours if your baby or toddler is going to be noisy. Whether you think your
little one is going to behave or not, turning round to your neighbours and saying a quick sorry in advance of
any disturbance your little one will be causing is a great way to break the ice and get fellow passengers
onside.
